Every path forward deserves to be traced

The Transfer
Atlas

A Community College Transfer Network

A living map of scholars who've transferred to four-year universities — sharing their stories, pathways, and guidance.

01 — Our Intention

The transfer journey is full of potential. It shouldn't have to be navigated alone.

Millions of students begin at community college — full of ambition, full of potential. Yet the information they need to transfer successfully is scattered, hard to find, and rarely told from the perspective of someone who actually lived it.

The Transfer Atlas brings it all together: real scholars sharing real pathways, curated resources for every stage of the transfer process, and a community built on the belief that the right information — at the right moment — changes everything.

Grounded in evidence.

The Transfer Atlas is built on a clear body of research: transfer students face real, structural barriers — and connection, visibility, and mentorship make a measurable difference.

The Transfer Gap

Despite high transfer intentions, a significant 'transfer gap' persists — the difference between students who intend to transfer and those who successfully complete a bachelor's degree. Research identifies uneven access to advising, articulation agreements, and peer networks as key barriers.

Peer Networks & Near-Peer Mentorship

Students who have access to near-peer mentors — especially those from similar backgrounds or the same institution — show stronger transfer and degree completion outcomes. Social capital and relational trust are critical, yet underutilized, levers in transfer success.

Equity & Underrepresented Students

Community colleges disproportionately serve students from low-income, first-generation, and historically underrepresented backgrounds. Yet transfer rates and baccalaureate attainment remain inequitable. Transparent pathway data and representation in transfer networks can help close these gaps.
